Director of Bands Announcement

 Lithia Springs Band Families,  

We are so excited to formally announce the appointment of Mr. Jacob Mercer as our new Director of Bands! We are so excited to welcome him into the Lion’s Den and begin working on a great school year! 


I am ecstatic to be at Lithia Springs and to work towards a common goal of musical excellence! I want to support all the students in a smooth and happy transition while also establishing the foundation of the Lithia Springs band program! I am a student-oriented teacher who values the students I serve and respects them where they are on their high school journey! 


You’ll quickly learn that I am a huge logistics person! So, in that fashion here’s what you need to know for band camp! 


Pre-camp: July 18-22 (1-5p)

Band Camp “all days”: July 25-29 (9-8p). * Subject to change to 9-5 - the final call will be made during Pre-camp.


Please register for band camp using the jot form link! This is how we will know instrumentation and drill numbers for the show. All of this is WAY late and behind, but we have people who are cheering for us and willing to help with a quick turnaround. Please note that the commitment fee will not be required until Friday the 22nd after you’ve had the time to assess if you want to commit to the marching band. Commitment fees will be due for final processing on August 5th - two weeks after the window opens for payments. 


There will be a Director meet and greet this Friday, July 15th at 7 pm and will last approximately 40 minutes. This meeting will give you the chance to put a face to the name! This will be a virtual meeting via Zoom. Those details will be posted on the Blogspot later this week.

Marching band Registration

 Hello all! 

We are super excited to be able to offer information on the 2022 Band Camp that is quickly approaching! We appreciate your patience and trust in this process, as we know that it is running behind schedule.

If you have already completed this online form, then you are accounted for! We sincerely hope that you consider joining us on the field this fall! There will be more information released once we have further guidance. The commitment fee payment window will not open until Friday, July 22 after your student has had a chance to experience pre-camp and make their choice to commit. We hope that we have as many interested students as possible!

Band Camp Week, July 25-29 9a-8p (tentative to change based on numbers of interest)

Thriving in COVID


I told myself once the second term started that I would no longer survive in Covid-19 but we are gonna THRIVE IN COVID-19! So I came up with a plan and I wanted to see it through. Back story, I am very hands on with my seniors as they transition out of the program. I schedule auditions, college tours, and help complete any and all paperwork work. Well in this new visual work age  I created a GOOGLE CLASSROOM AND SET SOME PARAMETERS AND BENCH MARK DATES. You think it’s hard keeping kids on task while in the classroom imagine what it takes virtually... yeah I did occasional pop ups to ensure they were indeed on task. We WILL produce quality. Buy any means necessary! I very rarely share my students’ work here Bc we can be critical sometimes BUT IM PROUD OF THESE KIDS, I know the journey and as their educator, the person who has seen their progress from day one these young men deserve all the fruits of their labor. I’m sharing the classroom set up as well as the final product. So thankful for my evaluating supervisior who supports us through all the confusion Bc the product will speak for itself. Thank you Dr. Joy Myers Moses!

This is the day! December, 14, 2020

 Good Morning All, 

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to remind you today 12/14/2020 is that last day I will accept any late, missing, or extra credit assignments. I will not accept any assignment submitted after the end of the school day. 4:00 EST. It is my goal to have al grades input, finalize and verified my Wednesday, 12/16. I will also use this same time timeline to address any issues or questions you may have concerning you attendance. Please feel free to email me directly, damien.gaiters@dcssga.org , with any questions or concerns so that we can resolve them as quickly as possible. 

Lastly, For chorus and band students, I will be sending a survey out to help me determine hoe to plan for the spring based on your level of comfort in returning for afterschool rehearsals. Please know there is no pressure at all but your honesty is needed to help us plan for our future.

It won’t be the traditional way that we’ve grown to know and love but this is where we get to do what I love… Which is think outside of the box!
